International buyers mean business for Stirling

Stirling and Loch Lomond have been highlighted to worldwide buyers as a top business tourism destination as part of the Scotland Means Business biannual workshop.

The workshop, organised by VisitScotland’s Business Tourism Unit and held at the De Vere Cameron House Hotel on the shores of Loch Lomond, is designed to bring together Scottish tourism businesses and buyers from key businesses looking to host conferences or corporate functions in Scotland.

Around 50 international meeting planners from the US, Russia, India, Spain, Germany, Ireland and the UK attended the Scotland Means Business workshop, along with 50 Scottish partners showcasing some of the best venues, suppliers and event providers Scotland has to offer.

As part of the programme, all of the delegates got first-hand experience of Cameron House, Boturich Castle and a gala dinner at Stirling Castle.

Business tourism is now worth over £911 million to the Scottish economy. Over 2.8 million business trips are made to Scotland each year, with the average business visitor spending more than twice that of their leisure counterparts.
