The Scottish Borders Tourism Xchange Day was recently held at the Border Union Showground in Kelso with over 75 businesses attending.
Organised by the Scottish Borders Tourism Partnership (SBTP) the event brought together tourism businesses from across the region and encouraged them to develop new ways of working together to make the area a first-class tourism destination in which the visitor experience exceeds their expectations.
The event enabled tourism businesses to showcase their business, make profitable connections, and hear success stories of development and growth from across the Scottish Borders.
Speakers included Alan Dickson from Baxters Food Group, Liz Cameron from the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce, Dawn Robson-Bell from Lochcarron of Scotland, Bobby Irvine from VisitScotland.com and Martin Jordon of Equator. Attendees heard about highlights from tourism in the Scottish Borders, news from VisitScotland and VisitScotland.com, explaining the benefits of working together and developments in the technology.
As part of the Tourism Xchange Day businesses had the opportunity to network with one another through exhibition space giving them an excellent chance to learn more about the area and collect information to help service enquiries from visitors, either prior to their visit or during their stay.
The SBTP is made up of trade representatives from the area’s tourism industry, Scottish Borders Council, VisitScotland Borders, and Scottish Enterprise Borders.
