The Victorian railway carriage at Ballater opens to the public on Easter Saturday

The recently installed authentic reproduction Victorian railway carriage in the Ballater Tourist Information Centre will open to the public on Saturday 22 March 2008.

Thanks to a suggestion made by His Royal Highness the Duke of Rothesay back in 2001, visitors and locals alike will have the chance to see at first hand the extraordinary beauty and detail of his Great, Great Grandmother’s personal favourite form of travel. The £450,000 project has been funded by European Regional Development Fund, Scottish Enterprise Grampian, VisitScotland, Heritage Lottery Fund and FirstGroup.

To visit the carriage there will be a charge of £1 per adult, while children under 12 are free. Maximum of four children per adult. The Ballater Tourist Information Centre and Victorian installation are open seven days a week from 10am until 5pm.
