Perthshire from on high
A brand new DVD showcasing the stunning scenery of Perthshire Big Tree Country (PBTC) from the air is now available. Produced by local company Speakeasy Productions from Stanley, the DVD is part of the £1.8 million PBTC Heritage & Access Project, managed by Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT).
Viewers have the chance to experience the spectacular Perthshire countryside as never before; through the lens of the latest high definition camera attached to the underside of a helicopter.
The DVD is introduced by Scone-born plant collector David Douglas (after whom the Douglas fir is named) who, in the early 19th century, helped shape the Perthshire countryside of today. The part of David Douglas is played by local Greenspace Ranger, Fergus Cook, with other members of PKCT and PKC Countryside Section featured as ‘extras’.
Councillor Bob Ellis, PKCT Chairman said: “What’s particularly amazing is that the Perthshire countryside we enjoy today didn’t just happen by accident but is the result of adventurous Scots who travelled the globe looking for new plants to send back to the UK. This DVD is a fitting tribute to the bravery of those plant collectors and the vision of the landowners, who created this fantastic resource.”
