The COAST Festival of the Visual Arts is a new annual festival coming to Banff and Macduff from the 23-26 May 2008. The event has been established to promote the visual arts in many forms, with the aim of boosting tourism and developing the arts community in the area.
The festival has received the backing of major funding bodies, to ensure its success in 2008. This totals approximately £150,000 and comes from Scottish Enterprise Grampian, EventScotland and Aberdeenshire Council. This funding will provide essential continuity for the first three years. With other fundraising efforts and income from art sales, this will guarantee the establishment of a major festival, which will bring around £2m to the local economy in future years.
