Ord House

Ord House on the west coast of the Sleat peninsula on the Isle of Skye has been awarded five stars following an assessment under Visit Scotland's Quality Assurance Scheme.

In 2005, a sympathetic programme of renovation began to restore Ord House to its original character and charm while being sensitive to the ecological requirements of 21st century living. Today guests may relax by log fires and enjoy organic dining watching the changing light over the sea and Cullin Mountains.

Ord House is a private home that provides to its guests a place of sanctuary and retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Guests not only have the chance to stay in one of Skye's renowned historic houses but also to experience the stillness and tranquillity of the setting.

An extra facility offered at Ord House is provided by Nicola Bradbury, a medical herbalist and integrated holistic cancer support therapist providing private consultations from her practice at Ord House. Guests may take advantage of relaxing therapies as well as the specialised diets catered for guests with allergies or food intolerances. Ord House is an ideal location for a patient-centred health-care programme in a peaceful, safe setting conducive to healing and the relief of stress.

Visit Scotland Highlands Area Director, Scott Armstrong said: “We have a great range of accommodation to offer visitors, but Ord House is really setting the standards for serviced accommodation in the Highlands, and I'd like to congratulate them on their achievements.”
