Scottish people with a passion for picnics are being encouraged to vote for their favourite picnic spot in this year’s Warburtons Picnic Awards.
Warburtons, Britain’s favourite family baker, is hosting the second annual awards in the build up to National Bread Week (5-11 May) to celebrate the Great British picnic and the UK’s love of loaves. This year, Warburtons has teamed up with VisitScotland to select Scotland’s top 10 picnic spots.
Those in the running for this year’s award include Vatersay, Outer Hebrides by sea kayak and Rothiemurchus Estate, near Aviemore
Ten spots will battle it out in the regional heat to become Scotland’s ‘Best Picnic Spot’ and will also be given the chance to represent the region in the UK final.
During the final heat, the Scottish winner will go on to contend against the other regional winners from across the UK for the coveted title of ‘Warburtons Best Picnic Spot 2008’. The overall winner will receive £1,000 cash bursary for the site and a plaque to ensure all visitors know it’s the UK’s favourite place to picnic. Each regional winner will be presented with a picnic bench embossed with a plaque which celebrates the winner’s status.
