Edinburgh and the Lothians on show to top tourism buyers

Over 25 businesses from Edinburgh and the Lothians attended this year’s VisitScotland Expo in Aberdeen, where around 250 suppliers of tourism products from all over Scotland were exhibiting.

Exhibitors from Edinburgh and the Lothians included Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Explore East Lothian and Smart City Hostels and, for the first time, Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Zoo and five star hotel Prestonfield.

Around 1000 buyers from all sectors of the tourism industry – travel writers, coach tour operators, group travel organisers, conference and event organisers, wedding planners, travel agents and independent tour operators and wholesalers –attended the event.

The buyers came from diverse markets throughout the world including Europe, USA, Far East, Australia, and of course the UK, and this year will included three new buyers from Brazil.

In advance of Expo, influential tourism buyers from Russia, Czech Republic, Poland and Brazil also visited Edinburgh as part of a major tourism drive to position the capital as a must visit destination for consumers from emerging tourism markets.
