Seven Stanes - on the right track

Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) is in partnership with VisitScotland and several other public bodies, in the highly successful 7stanes Mountain Bike project. With some 250 miles of world-class trails spread across the south of Scotland, and around 400,000 mountain bikers visiting every year, the project has gone from strength to strength - with a recent independent evaluation calculating that it now brings in over £9million into the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway economies.

As part of the FCS’s support to local tourism businesses, their 7stanes team can not only advise accommodation or service providers with background to this market but also offer some practical help with a business pack and material for web sites. In addition to this, the new 7stanes leaflet for 2008 is available along with a new DVD and trail maps.

The team has also recently launched a new competition called the "Mystery of the Seven Stanes on the 7stanes" and leaflets on this will be circulated soon.
