Any visitors to Shetland who fear they’ve missed their chance to see Up Helly Aa can rest assured they’re not too late. The Norwick Up Helly Aa Fire Festival – Shetland’s most northerly – takes place at Norwick in Unst on Saturday 23rd February.
The annual Up Helly Aa festival on Bressay takes place on Friday 29th February, while the Yell Up Helly Aa festival also takes place on the 29th – in Cullivoe, locally celebrating Shetland’s Norse heritage.
