National Café Competition Now Open

VisitShetland is urging locals and visitors across the islands to log on to a website to vote for their favourite café in Shetland. VisitScotland’s Café Trail website was launched this week and enables members of the public to describe their day and memorable café experience, with the best overall description earning the entrant a luxury break for two in Argyll.

The trail is open to all suggestions from all areas of Scotland. The cafe could be renowned for the location, nearby activities, atmosphere, service or simply amazing cakes, not to mention a warming drink after a long day walking in the hills.

Area Director for VisitShetland, Andy Steven, said: “We want to hear about the experiences enjoyed by the many people who come to enjoy varied breaks in Shetland. Whatever people get up to on their holidays they often include a café stop to relax and discuss the highlights of their trip, and there is certainly no shortage of high quality cafes and tea rooms to choose from in Shetland. I urge both locals and visitors in the area to log onto the website and record their favourite place to re-fuel – if your entry is good enough you may even get to sample some of the best cafes in Argyll!”

Nominations will be accepted until the end of September with judging taking place in October and the launch of the trail following in November.

To enter your experience, your favourite café and the description of why it is the most memorable log onto www.visitscotland.com/cafetrail and write that award-winning description.
