VisitShetland has reported a 15% increase in the number of enquiries they have been receiving via telephone and email from people interested in visiting Shetland as a result of having watched the BBC TV nature programme 'Springwatch', presented by Bill Oddie.

Andy Steven, VisitShetland area director explained: “Since the Springwatch programme has been on air, we have seen a significant increase in the number of queries we are receiving from potential visitors. This exposure is an excellent way to showcase what we have on offer in Shetland particularly to people from the south of England, especially as the increased interest from wildlife spotters wanting to see the otters and orca whales highlighted by Simon King’s TV reports also coincides with the launch of Atlantic Airway's new twice weekly service from London Stansted to Sumburgh.”
