VisitScotland chairman Peter Lederer paid a visit to Shetland this month to meet with local tourism businesses and discuss the key issues affecting tourism in the northern isles.
During his two day ‘Chairman’s Tour’, Mr Lederer had a number of positive and productive meetings with industry representatives including the Hotels of Shetland Association, the Shetland Tourism Association, and the area tourism partnership, as well as Shetland Islands Council officials. The trip also gave the VisitScotland chairman the opportunity to see the new £10m Shetland Museum and Archive building at Hay’s Dock, due to open later this year.
Mr Lederer’s visit also saw the official opening of the VisitShetland office and Tourist Information Centre, which recently underwent extensive refurbishment.
