Scone Palace by Candlelight

Scone Palace will be holding a special weekend of festive celebrations on 2 and 3 December when the Palace will be candlelit throughout and decorated for Christmas.

Come along and enjoy a glass of mulled wine in the company of Queen Victoria and John Brown who will be ‘in residence’ to greet you on your visit. A children’s storyteller will entertain the young and adults with the traditional favourite ‘A Christmas Tale’. Storytelling performances will take place at 11am and 3.30pm each day in The Old Kitchen Restaurant.

On Sunday 3rd December Kilgraston School Girls Choir will sing traditional Christmas songs in the Long Gallery from 1.30pm – 2.30pm.

During your visit why not take the opportunity to browse the Palace gift shop for high quality Christmas gifts with a difference, including the very best of Scottish produce.

The Palace will be open from 10am – 4.30pm each day, and reduced admission prices of £5 per adult and £2.50 per child will apply. Please note a supplementary charge of £2.50 is payable for the children’s storyteller – places are limited so please book early.

As part of the Christmas celebrations, Scotland’s premier vocal ensemble also returns to Palace by popular demand on the evening of Saturday 2nd December. Eight female voices from Cappella Nova join virtuoso harpist Catriona MacKay for two British choral classics marking the run up to Christmas. East meets West in spiritual texts from both the Christian and Hindu traditions, and a selection of chant, old and new, will be sung by a specially formed group of women’s voices from the Scottish Plainsong Choir, directed by Alan Taverner.

Tickets for Cappella Nova cost £10 and £12.50 and are available from Perth Theatre Box Office, tel. 01738 621031.
