Perthshire fronts national Autumn Campaign

Glenda Rudd, Pitlochry TIC manager answers the Autumn Colours hotline
For the second year running, one of Perthshire’s most spectacular views is the main image being used to lure visitors to Scotland this autumn.
Killiecrankie Gorge, near Pitlochry is the image which has been chosen to front VisitScotland’s annual Autumn Gold campaign brochure this year.
The brochure, which is distributed via the national contact centre and www.visitscotland.com to people from across the whole of the UK and Ireland, features the Gorge during the height of autumn.
Area Director for VisitScotland Perthshire, Vickie Miller said:
“As big tree country, Perthshire is renowned as one of the most beautiful areas in Scotland at this time of year, and it is fitting that, one of our most famous views is used to inspire visitors not just to Perthshire but to the whole country.
“Being the second year in a row that Perthshire has featured on the front of the national marketing material really shows just how spectacular this season is for us.”
In addition to being central to the national campaign, the Perthshire Office will be undertaking local activity which will involve the distribution of more than 20,000 flyers, 50,000 mailers and almost 80,000 media inserts that highlight some of the top offers and places to visit in the area this autumn.
Also an autumn colours hotline has been set up in the Pitlochry Tourist Information Centre to keep track of the best places to view the colours of the season.
Already visitors have been ringing in with their own thoughts on the best places to visit for autumn reds, golds and yellows this year, listing Birks of Aberfeldy, Lady Mary’s Walk in Crieff, Strathtummel, Glen Lyon and the Meikleour Beech Hedge as some of their favorites.
