Blue Reef Cottages - shortlisted for a Scottish Thistle Award
Details of the shortlisted finalists for this year’s Scottish Thistle Awards were announced recently and amongst them were the Blue Reef Cottages on the Isle of Harris.
The Thistle Awards are recognised as one of the top accolades a tourism business can receive, and reward Scottish tourism businesses that consistently strive for quality and innovation. Over 260 entries were received for this year’s Awards and the panel of judges have been extremely impressed with the high standard of entries.
Categories that received the most entries include Events and Festivals, Innovation and Flavour of Scotland. For the first time this year a category was introduced for sustainable tourism and it received 21 entries showing the increasing importance of incorporating sustainable themes into a holiday experience. The overall winners will be announced at the glittering awards dinner at Edinburgh’s EICC on Friday 27 October.
Blue Reef Cottages on the Isle of Harris are one of three finalists shortlisted in the Customer Care: Self Catering Operator category. Proprietor Neil Campbell said “I am both surprised and honoured to be shortlisted for the Scottish Thistle Awards. I believe passionately in customer care and I’m delighted our high standard of service has been recognised by VisitScotland.
We were the first five star self catering provider in Harris and the success of Blue Reef Cottages has inspired others as there are now six cottages operating at five star. Harris has a five star environment and the addition of high quality accommodation enables us to market Harris as a world-class destination.”
