The Pier Arts Centre in Stromness has made the long list for the Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries 2008, it was announced this month. The Pier Arts Centre, alongside the Shetland Museum and Archives, will battle it out against major London and South East museums and galleries for the prestigious title and £10,000 Art Fund Prize.

Since its redesign last summer, the centre has gone from strength to strength. With its varied and ever-changing contemporary programme of local, national and international exhibitions, the centre continues to play a vital role in attracting visitors to Stromness and Orkney.”
