Congratulations go to Ronald Simison, for his award of a MBE in the recent Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Ronald's award was for "services to Archaeology and to the Tourist Industry in Orkney" and follows his discovery, excavation and setting up of the Tomb of the Eagles at Isbister, South Ronaldsay, as a visitor attraction. He discovered the site by accident in 1958 and started excavating it in 1976.
The site is maintained and kept open for visitors by Ronald and his family.
The Tomb is unique as it's the only prehistoric site on Orkney in private hands.
