Orkney’s official tourism website has proved to be a big hit with more using the site.

Web statistics for 2006 show that www.visitorkney.com saw strong month by month increases on 2005’s figures. The site’s busiest month was August with 32,698 visitors, compared to 25,958 visitors in 2005. Meanwhile the biggest increase in site visitors was in November, when an impressive 26,651 people logged on compared to 15,905 in 2005 – an increase of 10,746.

Last year say the addition of a third webcam in Westray, as well as the introduction of a new monthly online competition where winners can receive one of a number of prizes provided by local businesses.
