New figures have indicated that Orkney’s visitor attractions have enjoyed a highly successful start to the year, with significant increases in visitor numbers.
The latest Scottish Visitor Attraction Barometer figures show a 46% increase in April’s visitor numbers compared to April of last year, while visitor numbers for the period January to April 2006 increased by 25.3% on the same period last year – the highest increase in Scotland.
Scotland as a whole saw an increase of 12.6% for the month of April, and an increase of 1.5% for the period January to April.
The Scottish Visitor Attraction Barometer is conducted by the Moffat Centre for Travel and Tourism on behalf of VisitScotland, and is a monthly review performance of around 500 Scottish attractions’ performance.
