June shines for Orkney tourist accommodation sector
Figures have revealed that Orkney’s tourist accommodation sector enjoyed a very successful June, with much higher than average occupancy rates.
Produced by TNS Travel and Tourism for VisitScotland, the figures show Orkney’s hotels reporting a 90% room occupancy rate for the month of June, a 4% increase on the same period last year and significantly higher than the national average of 74%.

Meanwhile unit occupancy figures for self-catering properties were marginally down on last year, but again much higher than the Scotland average, at 87% and 67% respectively.
