People 1st employer's meeting, Glasgow Marriott

People 1st provide opportunities for you to get involved in developing future skills, training and qualifications programmes.

The last few weeks have seen the launch of the new Skills for Work course in Hospitality, development of a new HN for Events and new projects in hospitality supervision, travel and tourist guides.

However proving sufficient employer engagement in order to secure government support for the training you need is a challenge.

At the beginning of April the Scottish Government announced a halt in Apprenticeship funding in our sector for over-20s – the Modern Apprenticeship is the key national programme for workforce development in the hospitality and tourism industry.

On May 30th we are holding an urgent employers’ meeting to discuss new Apprenticeship models.

  • Can you provide the evidence to show the industry values Apprenticeships and values development for the over 20s?
  • Does government funding to these programmes make a difference to you?

If the answer is yes then please contact us and attend. It is vital you provide feedback; the meeting is at the Glasgow Marriott from 10 -1pm. Places are free but limited.

A providers’ event will be held on the 4th June at Stirling Management Centre. All learning, training and education providers and stakeholders are welcome to attend.
