Trade shows bringing Scottish businesses in touch with buyers

Last week 14 Scottish tourism businesses joined VisitScotland at World Travel Market (WTM) one of the biggest international marketing platforms in the world, to showcase Scotland as a premier destination for leisure, business and event tourism. Businesses that would like to benefit from the opportunity to meet with buyers at a trade show, can also exhibit at VisitScotland expo, which takes place in Aberdeen on April 16 – 17 2008, or join VisitScotland at the British Travel Trade Fair (BTTF) in Birmingham on March 11 - 12 2008.

WTM took place in London from 12-15 November and brought together buyers and sellers from throughout the world and from every sector of the travel industry. Last year 47,000 tourism professionals from over 200 countries and regions took part in the business-to-business exhibition.

At World Travel Market this year 14 partners from tourism establishments from across the country exhibited alongside VisitScotland. A number of businesses attended the show for the first time, including Monachyle Mhor Hotel, Lochearnhead, and Montgreenan House Hotel, Kilwinning, Ayrshire. Moreover, the Royal Highland Hotel in Inverness, first time partners in 2006 returned in 2007 with a larger presence on the Scottish stand.

Northlink Ferries, based in Orkney, has chosen WTM to launch its 2008 consumer brochure.  NorthLink Marketing Projects Manager Elaine Tulloch said: “World Travel Market is the premier global event for the travel industry and perfect to launch the latest version of our brochure.”

British Travel Trade Fair (BTTF) is the established exhibition dedicated to showcasing travel and tourism products and services from the UK and Ireland to a domestic and incoming audience.

BTTF is the centrepiece of British Tourism Week and will take place on 11th & 12th March 2008, in Hall 17 at the NEC Birmingham.

If you would like to exhibit on the Scotland stand at this event, please contact Philip Duncan, Trade Events Co-ordinator, VisitScotland on 0131 472 2385 or by email on Philip.duncan@visitscotland.com

VisitScotland expo is Scotland’s only flagship business to business event for the travel trade that is entirely Scottish.  Expo 2008 takes place at the AECC in Aberdeen on 16-17 April 2008. Buyer registration is now open for expo and, while it is also still possible to exhibit, there are few available stands left.

If you would like to exhibit at VisitScotland expo 2008 or to register as a buyer, go to www.visitscotlandexpo.com
