Tourism Innovation Day - 28 February, Glasgow

With advances in digital, mobile and business technology, no tourism organisation can afford to miss the 2008 Tourism Innovation Day (TiD), 28 February 2008 at Hampden Park, Glasgow. The theme, “Tourism and Technology”, reflects the dependence that the tourism sector has on using technology to achieve success.

Tourism Innovation Day features the most exciting and inspirational speakers in the tourism sector including Ben Vinod, Chief Innovator/Vice President at Sabre Holdings, which controls brands including Holiday Autos and Lastminute.com, social network site IgoYougo as well as the Sabre GDS. Sabre’s mission is “to connect people with the world’s greatest travel possibilities” - none of which would be possible without technology!

In addition to the key note sessions, there will be four workshops focusing on the benefits of using technology in different stages of the customer journey, from “looking and booking” to stimulating “Returners”. Attendees will interact with technology providers who understand the opportunities and pain points in tourism, and tourism companies that use technology effectively to develop their businesses – applications as varied as web data analytics, interpretation tools using PDA and mobiles, Web 2.0, mobile ticketing, mapping, market research, collecting customer intelligence, Bluetooth marketing and a process for customer retention. Unmissable!
