Breakfast at the Falls

A touch of Hollywood glamour is being used to bring visitors to Scotland this winter with former Miss Scotland Aisling Friel encouraging them to explore all things white over the coming months at the launch of the Winter White Campaign.
The 25 year old model from Glasgow has joined forces with VisitScotland to pose as one of her all time idols, Audrey Hepburn, in a white, Scottish version of the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany’s image at the Falls of Bruar in Perthshire.
It marks the start of VisitScotland’s Winter White campaign, which showcases some of the best things to do and see in Scotland at this time of year. The campaign was created to help improve business before and after the Christmas period, and runs from 1 November until 20 March 2008.
VisitScotland’s Group Product Manager, Suzanne Casey said:
“Scotland is a magical place at this time of year and our Winter White campaign shows visitors that there is always more to do and see during a fantastic winter break here.
“Whether they are interested in our stunning white landscapes, climbing our snowcapped mountains, winter wildlife spotting or simply enjoying a glass of white wine after a sightseeing or shopping trip, Scotland has something for everyone in winter.
“We are committed to working with the industry to grow tourism revenues by 50% by 2015. One of the challenges for all businesses is to increase the volume of visitors coming to Scotland throughout the year. This campaign can help boost visitor numbers during a traditionally quieter time of year by showing holidaymakers that Scotland’s a must visit winter destination.”
In true Audrey Hepburn style, Aisling sparkled in over sixty thousand pounds worth of diamonds from prestigious jewellers Hamilton & Inches during the photo shoot. She said:
“My two favourite things are Scottish winters and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, so this is a dream job for me!
“It is an honour to be representing my country and helping attract visitors to Scotland at the same time as getting to wear stunning diamonds from Hamilton & Inches and dress like Audrey Hepburn, it’s every girl’s dream come true!”
Hotels across Scotland are participating in the campaign by offering special winter accommodation deals. The campaign also sees VisitScotland partnering with key brands including Johnston’s Cashmere, Cream of Galloway, Hamilton & Inches, Waitrose and Wiseman Dairies in a range of marketing activities. Electronic mailings, a ‘white’ website and joint promotions will all be used to encourage visitors from around the UK to take a winter break in Scotland.
One lucky visitor to the Winter White website, www.visitscotland.com/white will win a diamond from Hamilton & Inches.
