The Scottish Tourism Forum is delighted to announce the appointment of their new CEO, Iain Herbert.
Iain has worked with several different premier Scottish tourism agencies, including the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre and as Operations Manager for The Royal Yacht Britannia. He moved on to the successful Falkirk Wheel project which formed the centrepiece of the Millennium Link, a project to re-open the Lowland Canal network, which had closed in 1962.
Iain then became Head of Visitor Operations for National Museums Scotland, covering their six sites, including the Royal Museum and the Museum of Scottish Country Life. In this role, he was responsible for the development of the new Concorde attraction at the Museum of Flight.
More recently, Iain was Operations Director for Hadrian's Wall Heritage Ltd, encouraging sustainable tourism and regeneration of the 74 mile long and 10 mile wide corridor of the World Heritage Site. During the company's first five months he also took on the role of Acting CEO.
Peter Taylor OBE, Chair of STF, said: "This is an exciting time for tourism and the Scottish Tourism Forum's work highlights the importance of the industry to the Scottish economy. STF is the voice of the tourism industry in Scotland and we look forward to Iain joining the organisation and helping us to ensure that voice is heard."
Iain Herbert commented: "I'm looking forward to the exciting new challenges ahead, providing a real voice for the industry in Scotland through a professional and engaged approach focused on delivery for all current and future STF members."
