Russian Trade Mission 8-12 October 2007 - get involved

Russia is one of the key emerging markets for VisitScotland with a huge potential for growth. With the rapid growth of middle class and real disposable income, the average Russian visitor to Scotland is spending £1,148 per visit, more than any other nationality. Russian tourists mainly book 4-5 star accommodation and exclusive venues meaning it is a luxury segment for Scotland.

2006 Russian Trade Mission Event / Moscow

Due to visa requirements and a language barrier, the Russian travel trade remains the number one distribution channel for the Scottish product. As part of the emerging markets strategy, VisitScotland has identified the need to hold exclusive travel trade & media events within Russia.

Last year’s mission saw excellent results for the Scottish trade including one operator who secured business worth £150,000 per trade enquiry. VisitScotland, in partnership with VisitBritain, is now planning Scotland’s next sales mission from 8-12 October 2007. This year the event will take place in the two major Russian cities Moscow and St. Petersburg, with a combined population of 14 million people.

This will be a great opportunity for the Scottish businesses to target the key Russian travel trade directly, providing the opportunity to meet with at least 50 Moscow and St. Petersburg travel trade/key decision makers. There will be a one day workshop in both Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Scottish evening receptions will provide excellent networking with travel trade, VIP guests and press.
