Futures Lecture - The facts and myths of immigration
64% of Scotland’s tourism workforce are non-UK residents. With expansion of the EU, immigrant workers from Poland, Slovakia and other Eastern European countries are the backbone of Scotland’s tourism industry. But this fact isn’t new; during Victoria times, that backbone was Austrian and German workers. The tourism industry all over the world relies on immigrant workers, whether it is Scots in New Zealand or Mexicans in the USA.
Without immigrant workers, Scotland’s, and indeed the world’s, tourism industry would come to a grinding halt.
