A number of email scams are currently “doing the rounds”. They tend to follow a pattern and some of the key indicators to look out for are:

• They come from free email providers such as hotmail or yahoo.
• The senders have official titles, such as Reverend, Dr, Professor, etc
• They tend to come from African institutions or organisations.
• They ask for accommodation advice.
• They ask the recipient to phone a number.

Emails which fit this pattern should be ignored.
