100K Welcomes scheme launched

100K Welcomes has now been launched.

This new training course is designed to help tourism businesses and their employees turn their customers into 'raving fans'. The brand-new 100k Welcomes Leadership (2 days) and Operations (1 day) programmes are now being delivered throughout Scotland and will support anyone working in tourism & hospitality within Scotland. Stephen Spencer of Ascension, together with Professor John Lennon, is responsible for delivering the programme.

Inspired by the ancient Celtic greeting (Ceud Mìle Fàilte) that is recognised the world over, the programme is based on a few simple concepts; for example that putting yourself in your customers' shoes is the best way to discover how to add value at every contact point. In addition, as Professor John Lennon, of the Moffat Centre for Travel & Tourism Business Development, and 100k Managing Agent, explains: 'Action must be taken after the training event if the learning is to have been worthwhile, and truly world class customer experiences created profitably by Scottish tourism businesses'.

Professor Lennon states: “100k Welcomes is specifically designed to help businesses achieve that growth - and more! We also offer inspiration to people working in the front line. Jobs facing the customer can be demanding yet incredibly rewarding. We want everyone in Scotland to realise what an important industry tourism is, and that it offers almost limitless career opportunities. A 100k Welcomes training event is just the start!”
