Mey Selections was one of the sponsors of this year’s Scottish Tourism Week 4-11 March, which saw a number of events taking place throughout the country. One hundred and fifty people representing the Scottish tourism industry enjoyed the delicious taste of Mey Selections lamb, cheese and oatcakes at the Scottish Tourism Dinner held last week in Glasgow, while another 180 guests sampled Barrogill whisky, along with Mey Selections cheeses, oatcakes, chutneys, jams, honeys, shortbread and biscuits at a reception held at the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood.
The Scottish Tourism Forum, organisers of the initiative, aims to raise awareness of the importance of tourism to the Scottish economy. Over 180 guests, including several Scottish MSPs and members of the Scottish Tourism Forum attended a Parliamentary reception at Holyrood, Edinburgh on Wednesday 5 March and enjoyed sampling from the wide range of Mey Selections products. Jamie Stone, Caithness MSP was on hand to encourage his fellow MSPs to taste the various products on offer and the Highland Blue cheese and Cottar’s Gold cheddar proved extremely popular, along with the handmade oatcakes
The following evening Mey Selections was again the star appearance on the menu at the annual Scottish Tourism Week Industry Dinner, held at the Glasgow Science Centre. Guests enjoyed Saddle of Mey Selections Lamb with Rosemary and Apricot stuffing and Iain Herbert, Chief Executive of the Scottish Tourism commented:
“Mey Selections provided a veritable feast of some of the best Scotland has to offer at the industry dinner. It can be a hard audience to please as the majority comes from the hospitality industry itself; however, the feedback on the quality of the produce has been excellent.”
Many of the hoteliers and restaurateurs showed interest in the Mey Selections brand, keen to discover more about the products. There is an increase in public awareness in Scotland not only of the provenance of food but also support to the farmers and producers passionate who deliver the natural goodness of the North Highlands
The Mey Selections product range includes prize-winning beef, lamb, mutton and cheese, as well as oatcakes, honey & oat biscuits, shortbread, whisky, honey and preserves. As the name suggests, all products come from within 100 miles of the Castle of Mey – the most northerly castle on the Scottish mainland.
