Scotland’s first ‘Cittaslow’ city

Perth has now been officially recognised as Scotland’s first ‘Cittaslow city’ by Cittaslow UK, with the wider rural area of Perth and Kinross awarded ‘Cittaslow Supporter Status’.

Cittaslow (pronounced `Cheetah-Slow`, a mixture of Italian and English) is a network of over 100 towns and cities across the world who have adopted a common set of goals and principles to enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. In simple terms, Cittaslow towns aspire to be good places to live and visit.

Allied to Perth's new Cittaslow status, a Perth Slow Food Group is being set up (Cittaslow originally evolved out of the Slow Food movement). This group will meet regularly to enjoy meals prepared with local produce, visit local producers and generally share enthusiasm for good food and good company.
