'Heather Hopper' makes welcome return

The Cairngorms National Park offers residents, businesses and staff, and visitors a more sustainable way of getting round the Park, through the re-introduction of the unique ‘Heather Hopper’ bus service.

The Heather Hopper is the only bus service linking different parts of the Cairngorms National Park and following a successful pilot scheme last year, it launched its 2007 timetable recently.

With 80 per cent of visitors coming to the National Park by car (in 2006), the return of this service is a good move by the Park Authority and local councils to encourage more people to use a less damaging way of getting round this special and sensitive area.

The twice daily service is running until September and is funded by the CNPA and Aberdeenshire and Highland Councils.
