VisitScotland Fife is gearing towards a successful 2008 with many events and developments set to boost tourism in the area.

The Scottish Snowdrop Festival will return for the second year after being successfully launched at Cambo Estate in February last year. Cambo have been riding on the crest of a wave after a successful Scottish Thistle Award win and will once again be a key attraction for the area.

Knockhill will continue to host a full programme of events for the forthcoming year: the Scottish Motorfair, Scottish Classic Speedfair, the British Superbike and British Touring Car Championship all contributing significantly to tourism in west Fife and cements Knockhill as the top motor sport venue in Scotland.

The golf portfolio across the Kingdom is set to continue to be a major attraction for visitors from around the world. St Andrews Links Trust will officially open their seventh course in the summer, the Castle Course, adding another dimension to the world class golf already available.

Further golfing highlights include the return of the Curtis Cup to Scotland after a 24 year absence; the Old Course will host the event for the first time.

The arts will play an integral role with the East Neuk Festival and the Pittenweem Arts Festival at the forefront of activity. Big Tent – Scotland’s Festival of Stewardship, located in Falkland, will add a touch of culture to Fife’s growing reputation as a cultural hub.

Other highlights to look out for this year include the popular Bruce Festival held in Dunfermline and the return of the Leuchars Air Show.

A number of hotel developments have taken place over the last couple of years but the official opening of the Bay Hotel in Kinghorn is set to offer something new to the area and continues the trend of development that has swept through Fife.
