Update from Fife Tourism Alliance

The Fife Tourism Alliance is the area tourism partnership for Fife comprising representatives of tourism sectors, public sector agencies, Fife Chamber of Commerce, FSB and the colleges.

The Alliance has a key role in advising investment from the Fife Strategic Tourism Development Fund and at its September meeting it recommended financial support for:

  • Small Grants Scheme for Tourism 2008-09/2009-10 – £60K for further support for small, community based projects including events
  • Town Centres Events and Promotions 2008-2009/2009-10 - £60K per annum split equally between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy Town Centre Management Companies
  • Fife Tourism Challenge - £25K to support a second schools based educational initiative
  • Anstruther Harbour Project Feasibility Study - £8K towards the project study for a new multi-function centre in Anstruther
  • Tentsmuir Interpretation Plan - £20K towards implementation of improvements to visitor facilities in the Tentsmuir area

    The Alliance also received a presentation from Amanda Drummond, CEO of Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, regarding development plans for the Fife Coastal Path including the creation of “loop” walks from the Path, environmental and interpretation improvements (including the Tentsmuir Plan) and the creation of “Welcome Ports” at key sites along the Path to provide more facilities for walkers.
