Rufflets rewards eco-avengers
Rufflets Country House Hotel in St Andrews is continuing to drive forward responsible tourism, by rewarding eco-friendly travellers with a special incentive.
Throughout April, all guests arriving at Rufflets via public transport, will receive a complimentary bottle of wine and free room upgrade upon arrival, as a special treat for their thoughtful and responsible travel.
An overnight stay at Rufflets, complete with a three course dinner in the elegant two AA Rosette Terrace Restaurant and full Scottish breakfast in the morning, starts from £122.00, per person, per night.
General Manager of Rufflets, Stephen Owen comments: “Carbon emissions from the unnecessary use of private vehicles has such a damaging impact on our environment. By rewarding our guests who choose to take public transport, we are raising awareness of the issue, which in turn, helps the bigger picture in some small way.”
This unique initiative is part of Rufflets guaranteed commitment to reduce its carbon emissions. The hotel was Scotland’s first official CarbonNeutral property where it invested in three projects to offset its carbon footprint including the reforestation of the Carrifran Valley in the Scottish Borders.
Rufflets also boasts a Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme for its operation such as using low energy lighting and encouraging guests to use showers instead of baths.
Further responsible tourism policies have been introduced in the hotel’s new Garden Suite which include harvesting rainwater for use in all the WCs, as well as supplying the existing on-site laundry, and providing irrigation for the surrounding garden.
Located just outside the picturesque town of St Andrews, Rufflets is one of Scotland’s original country house hotels featuring 24 individually styled bedrooms, three suites and two self-catering lodges. The fine dining Terrace Restaurant, with its two AA Rosettes, is recognised as one of the finest in the area. In addition, the extensive wine list at Rufflets has been awarded “notable listing” status and has been commended for over 120 wines.
