Tour of Britain at Scottish Thistle Awards
Dumfries & Galloway's Tour of Britain cycle event partners led the region's presence at the ScottishThistle Awards for tourism excellence this year.
The tour, which is growing in prestige every year, brings not just some of the world’s leading professional cyclists to the area, but attracts spectators from all over the country as well as massive home and international television audiences. These types of events are invaluable in terms of promoting and raising the profile of Dumfries & Galloway and Scotland.
Co-ordinated by Dumfries & Galloway Council's Events Strategy Officer Ian Barr, the group were nominated in the International events category however were pipped at the post by the new Mackintosh Festival in Glasgow. Let's start thinking about how to get the Dumfries & Galloway name in lights again for next year!
