Regions Events Celebrating Funding Awards from EventScotland

EventScotland, the national events agency, has announced that three events in Dumfries & Galloway have been successful through Round 9 of its Regional Events Programme.

The events, which will share a funding award totalling £21,000 are the Creetown Country Music Festival, the Galloway Forest Park mountain biking event, 10 @ Kirroughtree and the annual Wigtown Show in Bladnoch Park.

Elaine Ramsay of The Wigtown Show commented: "The Show Committee are delighted with the award given by EventScotland enabling us to provide a new attraction at the Show which is held on Wednesday 6th August in Bladnoch Park.

"The new attraction will be a 'Fine Foods from Galloway' marquee. This will increase the appeal to attend and will help develop and grow the Show which will result in increased visitor numbers. We look forward to working with EventScotland over the next few months."

The programme supports the development of sporting and cultural events and festivals taking place outside the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and to date has supported more than 150 events across the country, investing almost £2million through nine rounds of its regional events funding programme.

The next deadline for applications to the programme is August 1st 2008 – more information can be found on the EventScotland website www.eventscotland.org
