New hotel for Dumfries
Britain’s newest, independent hotelier ‘Aston Hotels’ opens its doors in Dumfries to its latest offering – a stylish and superior standard 71-bedroom hotel without the associated price tag for a room and set within 100 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds at ‘The Crichton’, estate.
The façade of the new hotel has combined both old and new architecture in its design. The hotel’s reception and public rooms are in the Victorian building, which was carefully restored to its former glory for guests to enjoy. The hotel’s new build quarter was designed to be very environmentally friendly, as well as stylish and is where the bedrooms are located. The new architectural design combines glass and copper, which offers a very striking look.
The hotel’s interiors were created by Scottish firm ‘Van Dijk’ and eloquently combine influences from the Art-Deco period with a contemporary and luxurious Scottish feel to the place. Little finishing touches, such as black and white framed prints in every bedroom of the surrounding estate work very well and make each room slightly different.
A varied selection of menus, from breakfast to light snacks and a la carte lunch and dinner, is also available in the hotel’s Brasserie and bar 59. This is being run by leading head chef, Colin Masson who has over 30 years experience in the industry and brings culinary flair to the new hotel, with past experience including other top end establishments such as the Gleneagles Hotel and Edinburgh’s Balmoral and Caledonian hotels.
He will be serving up top-quality, modern Scottish cuisine using the finest, fresh local produce – all in keeping with the establishment’s philosophy of premium quality at affordable prices.
The Aston Hotel Dumfries also has a range of new packages available for guests, who can take advantage of the hotel’s affiliation with local outdoor activity centres. For golf enthusiasts an adjacent 9-hole golf course is also available.
