VisitScotland Dumfries & Galloway were at the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park as part of their 2006 Garden Campaign and garden lovers across the country were able to pick up a free guide to gardens in Dumfries & Galloway.
Targeting gardeners within a 2-3hr drive time of the area, the campaign aims to raise the awareness of gardens and nurseries in Dumfries & Galloway, emphasising that the gardens in the region are some of Scotland’s best.
Hundreds of gardeners attended the flower show which is popular for its back-to-back small gardens and show gardens appealing to a wide selection of gardening tastes and budgets. VisitScotland Dumfries & Galloway attended in order to entice visitors to come up and visit the wonderful gardens available in Dumfries & Galloway.
The campaign also includes the production of 40,000 Garden & Nursery Guides which will be available throughout Dumfries & Galloway and in selected locations within a 3-4 hour drive time. The guide features 24 gardens and nurseries around the region.
www.visitdumfriesandgalloway.co.uk has a dedicated Gardens section which features all the gardens and nurseries within the guide and a regularly updated ‘Garden of the Month’. A new development is the ‘Garden Path Passport’ scheme which aims to encourage visitors to visit four or more gardens in Dumfries & Galloway and to win a short break in the region.
