There are some stunning changes going on in the natural world of the Scottish Borders at the moment at a time when VisitScotland Borders launches its Autumn campaign.

The main focus of the campaign is the VisitScotland Borders Autumn/Winter brochure with details of attractions and accommodation providers and a striking front cover with an Autumn shot taken at Dawyck Botanic Gardens. The Autumn campaign also includes; direct mail; public relations activity focusing on areas within a 2-3 hour drive-time of the region; in addition to support for Autumn events.

Fiona Drane, Area Director at VisitScotland Borders said; “With thousands of trees in the Scottish Borders putting on a magnificent show every Autumn our beautiful landscape attracts hundreds of visitors each year. The brilliant seasonal colours of the region’s trees surround us at the moment and for many visitors this is their favourite time of year to visit.”

The VisitScotland Borders website - www.visitscotlandborders.com – also has ideas on how to make the most of Autumn in the Borders. Whilst out and about in the Borders this season take a walk to a ‘heritage tree of the Borders’ such as the 281 year old Dawyck Larch or the much older Dryburgh Abbey Yew said to be a massive 869 years old. Take a drive around the area and enjoy the Golds, Russets, Yellows and Reds of the region’s trees – an ideal vantage point to take in their beauty would be the famous Scott’s View which offering a different view every season. Or take in an Autumn event such as the first ever Tweed Valley Forest Festival with events for all ages including Autumn walks, tree talks and cycle night rides.

The VisitScotland Borders network office is also part of the national Autumn Gold campaign, now in its 12th year. Launched at the beginning of September this year’s campaign includes television and cinema advertising, direct mailers, the website www.visitscotland.com/autumn and advertising in newspapers and magazines across the country.
