Barony ‘Pitheid Patter’ project

The Barony ‘A’ Frame Trust’s Pitheid Patter project won the most public votes for their project in the STV People’s Millions contest on Monday night.

The project will now receive £80,000 of lottery funding to provide interactive interpretative materials, signage and a heritage garden on the site.

It wasn’t clear from the promotional film who the elderly lady was and why she was involved. This was due to the way the film was edited by STV. Mrs Green is the widow of Henry Green – one of four men whose bodies were never recovered after a shaft collapsed at the Barony in 1962. Her father and grandfather had also been killed in the pits so she has a great interest in our project.
