Food lovers have the chance to sample some of Ayrshire’s finest restaurants and suppliers as VisitScotland launches its popular Dine Around £15 fixed price offer in the region alongside a very special Regional Gourmet Showcase.
Appetite for Ayrshire runs from 1 – 30 April, following in the footsteps of previous Dine Around menu offers in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife and Aberdeen. A medley of the best restaurants in Ayrshire will present a range of incredible dining offers to suit every taste, budget and occasion.
As well as this fantastic dining offer, some of Ayrshire’s top restaurants put on very special mouth-watering showcase gourmet events so food fans could indulge in some of the best produce the area has to offer.
The VisitScotland Prestwick office produced a leaflet to promote the event - 50,000 were inserted in the Herald and 100,000 hit doorsteps throughout Ayrshire and Glasgow. The event was also publicised on www.eatscotland.com and via The List - online and email. Media coverage included Metro, Sunday Herald, Scotland on Sunday and local press.
Ayrshire & Arran's Marketing Executive, Joan Stewart, said "This has been a fantastic vehicle for promoting Ayrshire's food & drink, as an area we are very rich in the quality of restaurants and eateries available. The response has been very encouraging, both from diners and participants."
Ayrshire’s mild Atlantic climate and long sunny summer days make the perfect recipe for nurturing some of Scotland’s finest and most famous produce including tender beef and lamb, delicious cheese and ice-cream and wild mullet, salmon and trout. Ayr was one of the first towns in Scotland to host a Farmers’ Market and many of the stall-holders at the market are actually suppliers to Ayrshire’s finest restaurants.
