A new DVD for visitors to Falkirk turns the clock back to paint a portrait of the area through its centuries of fascinating history, right through to the modern town’s evolution as a tourism hot spot.
Narrated by Scottish actor Iain Agnew, the short film charts Falkirk’s growth through its varied roles as Roman stronghold, the legendary William Wallace battleground, market town and bustling industrial centre.
There is also a strong focus on the town’s transformation into 21st century tourist destination, featuring footage of Big in Falkirk, Barbara Davidson pottery, town centre shopping, contemporary visual art at the Park Gallery, and of course, the now iconic Falkirk Wheel.
Visitors and residents alike can buy copies of the DVD at the tourist information centre in Falkirk, priced at just £2.99 each.
The DVD has been produced by national tourism agency VisitScotland with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and support from British Waterways, Falkirk Council and Falkirk & District Town Centre Management.
