Thistle Award-winning environmental arts organisation NVA and The National Theatre of Scotland have taken to both YouTube and terrestrial TV this month to promote their forthcoming Half Life production in Mid-Argyll next month. And it all has a distinctly Alien feel…
The 20-second advert shows an animated version of the Half Life poster ad (pictured, right), with the title lettering appearing one line at a time, in a style that recalls the spooky title sequence for Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien.
The movie-trailer feel continues with the appearance of the intriguing strapline ‘Journey into the Neolithic’.
The ad is running on STV throughout the month of August, and can also be seen at the click of a mouse on YouTube.
So what’s it all about?
Half Life is a major new work produced by the combined talents of NVA and The National Theatre of Scotland. Staged in Kilmartin Glen, one of Europe’s most renowned prehistoric regions, it offers a physical and emotive experience ‘revealing the dark but inspiring mindset of Scotland’s early Neolithic inhabitants’.
Audiences will be taken on a journey to explore a series of atmospheric sites and installations based around known and rarely seen prehistoric landmarks over a 150 sq mile area of stunning Highland landscape. This is followed by a theatrical performance at night.
