Even TICs can have Café Days…

Who says you need to be a café to have Café Days? With two local venues participating in the new Café Days promotion, Oban TIC decided to get in on the act and stage another charity coffee morning earlier this month.

The TIC hosted a Cash for Kids coffee morning in partnership with local radio station Oban FM. The station organises fund-raising events throughout the year to provide for disabled groups, nurseries, playgroups and sports teams.

They relocated their Friday morning ‘Naf and a Half’ show to broadcast from the TIC for the day, and one of the presenters, Harry McMaster, interviewed customer services' supervisor, Riona MacInnes about the services the TIC could offer to both tourists and locals.

Visitors that morning included Soroba Playgroup who wanted to support the event as they had received funding from the charity. The children were exceptionally well-behaved and enjoyed being interviewed for the local radio, even singing one of their favourite songs on air.

There was a magnificent selection of home baking, all produced by TIC staff, and despite the torrential rain and gales £117.00 was raised for the charity.
