Anglers Welcome Workshop comes to Dumbarton

Anglers Welcome Workshop
19 October 2007
Dumbuck House Hotel
Dumbarton

For centuries, anglers have been coming to fish in Scotland, but many tourism operators still have little or no understanding of their very specific needs. This one-day course in Dumbarton will show you how to reel in a whole new market.

Salmon, cod, carp, perch, skate, seabass and varieties of trout – Scotland is an angler’s dream, and one made all the better by the great scenery and warm hospitality.

Visitors who enjoy fishing like to feel welcome. They appreciate having:

  • storage boxes for rods
  • a daily weather forecast
  • freezer facility for bait or catch
  • facilities for gutting or preparing catch
  • or facilities for washing fishing tackle.

Equally important is the local knowledge of where to fish.

This workshop will give you an appreciation for the facilities required by visiting anglers, the types of angling enquiries you might receive, plus handy tips on how to make the angler’s experience more rewarding. It will also cover how to market your business to attract anglers.

Cost is £40 + VAT (subject to European Social Fund eligibility) and includes lunch, refreshments and an information pack. For more information or to book a place, contact Tourist Board Training on 01294 313006 or email tbt@tbt.visitscotland.com

This workshop complements VisitScotland’s Anglers Welcome Scheme.
