Fire regulations – update for accommodation providers

Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 as amended
The Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006

On 1st October 2006 the above legislation came into force.  Under the new legislation the Fire Authority is the Enforcing Authority in relation to General Fire Safety within your premises.  As part of the Fire Authority duties an Officer may contact you to carry out an audit of your Fire Risk Assessment and inspect the relevant premises.

In order for you to ensure that you comply with the above legislation it is recommended you consult the Fire Safety Guidance Booklet which provides information about the Fire (Scotland) Act.
