Perthshire Passport to highlight adventure in the area

Olly Baylis from Nae Limits launching the Adventure Passport
Perthshire will be at the forefront of the illustrious adventure tourism market with the launch of a brand new initiative for the area.
The Adventure Passport project aims to position Scotland as Europe’s Adventure Capital, with 119 listed adventure sport companies offering 47 different activities, ranging from surfing to mountaineering, sphering (rolling down a hill in a large inflatable ball) to white water rafting.
Now the adventure passport project, which has previously had success in the Fort William and Lochaber area, is coming to Perthshire. It is hoped the project’s launch will further strengthen Perthshire’s position as a prime location for adventure activities.
This year the passport will have its very own URL, www.visitscotland.com/adventurepassport , which will allow potential visitors to download an adventure passport and also gain inspiration for things to do and places to stay.
The passport includes 32 special offers, with a selection of activity, accommodation, retail and food and drink providers involved. The deals are valid from October to May next year, with the aim of attracting new visitors to the area in what is traditionally a quiet period.
A variety of other tourism businesses stand to benefit from the passport, offering a welcome distraction for visitors from the rigours of cycling in the mountains or white water rafting on the Tay.
Perthshire has already achieved considerable success in the adventure industry, with a growing clientele of men and women aged between 25 and 40 looking for an exciting break. Indeed, the industry has become increasingly important for Scottish tourism; taking expected growth into account, the adventure tourism industry in Scotland could be worth £848 million by 2015.
