Seasonal food brings recipe for tourism success

Scotland’s wide variety of high quality natural ingredients are being used to entice food loving visitors to Scotland.

With an average of 21% of all tourist expenditure in Scotland spent on food and drink, this is an important sector for Scottish tourism.

Seasonal foods ranging from vegetables and berries to Scotland’s renowned fish and seafood are highlighted by national tourism organisation VisitScotland in a new website
www.scottishfoodinseason.com

To give consumers inspiration about the fantastic ingredients they can buy in Scotland the site also includes recipes from EatScotland businesses. Visitors to the site can also upload their own favourite recipes.

To encourage people to visit Scotland, the site includes information on food festivals and events. Businesses and suppliers can also upload information about events to the site. McDonalds Cheese Shop, Blairgowrie; Perth Farmers Market; Macdonald Brothers Ltd and The Breadalbane, Aberfeldy are just a few of examples of businesses involved.
